This is Laila. She lives on a ground behind our society. Sometimes she comes in looking for food but is ALWAYS shooed away. I feed her whenever I see her and that’s how she knows me.

She has always been very elusive. Never let me touch her but always followed me or my car whenever she spotted us. Both of us used to hide from the nasty people in the society and choose a corner where I would place her food and walk away and she would go and gobble it up. She gave birth to many litters .. all out of my reach and also sometimes without me even knowing. Most of them perished .

I hadn’t seen her for a while and I asked a few good people around if they had seen her lately . No one had. Last night I got a call from the supervisor of my society saying she is lying near his door lifeless. My heart sank. I rushed with food ..water.. some medicines and ..glucose.

This heat is is a killer. Please place water if not food around the spaces that you live . This planet does not only belong to humans.

Upon investigating further it appeared that she was malnourished. I could see her ribs. And and all her bones. She allowed me to touch her. That itself told me something was seriously wrong. Somehow managed to put some water and glucose in her mouth and in 10 minutes she also ate some food.

I left her there for the night with water by her side. This morning I went to check on her and she was in the same spot but was able to stand. Gave her some buttermilk and food and she ate. The plan was to let her be there in the shade and bring her back to life by feeding her at regular intervals and keeping enough water around. Just as I was about to leave I noticed a HUGE wound on her backside. She allowed me to touch her as if she knew I could be trusted and I meant well.

Looking at the wound I’m realized it’s TVT ( a type of cancer ). That was a tumor which had burst. I went back and brought a bedsheet. Lifted her and took her touch Vinod Salvi’s Pet force. Thank you Vinod for always being there for our voiceless and helpless babies. She is there now and will need intensive treatment .. chemotherapy. . Lots of supplements and food ..to recover .. and minimum 10-15 weeks.

After she is fine we will spay her so she doesn’t have any more babies who will end up dying or living in a world where they are not treated with the love they deserve. This whole treatment is going to cost a lot of money. Update on 19th April 2017

Laila needs to be prepped and ready for chemotherapy. Which means that besides her 2 square meals a day that she gets at the shelter ,she needs additional good food,liver suppliments and multi vitamins daily. And since its so hot and the heat is unbearable we will be adding buttermilk to her diet too 🙂

Update 2 – 27th April 2017

Laila has been getting her daily dose of buttermilk ,pedigree gravy with chicken and liver , liver tonic and multivitamins besides love and her meals 🙂 

The vet checked on her today and has started her on chemotherapy.Her blood samples have been sent for testing .

She will receive 1 chemotherapy session weekly.

We will definitely need more funds than we have received already . Looks like she’s going to be here for sometime to come and her treatment will take a little long . At the end of it all ..she will be well and that’s what matters 🙂
