Whenever I think of Pinky, this is the image that fills my mind and heart. I’ve known her since the day she was born, and it hurts beyond words to see her going through this pain.
Sometimes I genuinely wonder how reckless humans can be. How does someone run over a living being, crush her bone so badly, and simply drive away without even stopping to help? How?
Pinky was adopted when she was just that tiny little baby in the first picture. A lady came forward, seemed responsible, passed every check, came to pick her up, and even sent me regular updates for a week. Then one day, the updates stopped. I didn’t think much of it because she had otherwise been consistent.
But when I stepped out to feed Pinky’s mother and the rest of the dogs, what did I see? Pinky. Right there. Sitting peacefully on the grass beside her mother.
It was deeply disappointing. But she looked okay, and honestly, I didn’t even feel like calling the lady to ask why she had abandoned her without a word. What was the point? If someone could quietly return a puppy without even informing me, I’d rather save my energy for the dog than waste it on explanations.
So I focused on settling Pinky back in.
After that, I didn’t try very hard to get her adopted again. She was so attached to her mother, Whitey, that separating them started to feel cruel.
The years passed. Pinky grew up. Whitey grew old. And the two of them spent almost all their time together… until Whitey passed away in an accident very similar to the one Pinky has now suffered. 💔
Whitey’s old body couldn’t survive the impact.
Pinky is around 10 years old now, and on Monday she will undergo amputation surgery. The fracture is too severe for the bone to heal properly, and even plating surgery at that joint will not help.
My heart breaks for her. But if there’s one thing I know about Pinky, it’s that she has always been a fighter.
And I’m going to fight with her.
She has been at the foster for 4 weeks already.- Rs 250 a day
Hospital for 2 weeks.- Rs 600 a day
Meds – ++, Ambulance +++, Amputation surgery on Monday -10,000 +++
